A suspect in the attack on a patrol service inspector has been detained in Tashkent
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A suspect involved in an attack on a patrol service inspector was detained in the Yunusabad district of Tashkent, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Uzbekistan reported.
The incident occurred on 19 May at around 6:30 p.m. near the Yunusabad dehkan market. While performing his official duties, Junior Lieutenant I. Ibragimov stopped a passerby whose behavior aroused suspicion for a routine check.
Suddenly, the man, armed with a knife, attacked the inspector, inflicting a wound to his neck.
The injured officer was urgently hospitalized, where doctors were able to save his life. As a result of swift operational actions, the suspect was apprehended. He was identified as Akrom Tursunovich Khasanov, born in 1963, a resident of the Pakhtakor district of Jizzakh region, who has been registered at a psychoneurological dispensary since 2005.
The Yunusabad district prosecutor’s office has initiated a criminal case under Articles 97 and 25 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
Investigative activities are ongoing, and the suspect remains in custody in accordance with procedural law.
