Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 22 December 2022, a solemn ceremony was held to transfer humanitarian cargo to the people of Afghanistan in the Afghan city of Hairatan.
Humanitarian aid with a total weight of more than 170 tons consists of flour, rice, wheat, vegetable oil, canned food, clothes and shoes.
Governor of Balkh province Muhammad Daoud Mozamel expressed deep and sincere gratitude to the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev for his great attention, support and solidarity with the Afghan people at this difficult time for Afghanistan.
It was especially noted that it was the Head of Uzbekistan who again showed the whole world an example of fraternal attitude towards the multinational people of Afghanistan, which is also a clear example for the entire international community.
Special Representative of the President of Uzbekistan for Afghanistan Ismatulla Irgashev and Khokim of Surkhandarya region Tura Bobolov outlined the priority not only of providing humanitarian assistance to Afghanistan, but also of intensifying trade and economic cooperation between representatives of business circles of the Surkhandarya region and the Afghan province of Balkh.
The parties agreed to resume the work of the Joint Working Group on Border Issues at the level of the heads of the Surkhandarya region of Uzbekistan and Balkh province with its next meeting in the near future in Termez. It was stated that this will contribute not only to the development of border trade, but also to the strengthening of economic cooperation between the two countries.
