Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - On 4 January 2021, the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan organized a training seminar for the heads of diplomatic missions abroad on the topic: “Priority areas of socio-political and socio-economic reforms in Uzbekistan, increasing the role of parliament in the processes transformation of the country”.

At the seminar, the Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis Tanzila Narbaeva made an introductory speech.

The main purpose of the training seminar was to deepen practical knowledge about the course of reforms being carried out in Uzbekistan, improve the forms and methods of bringing objective information about the transformations taking place in the country to the foreign public.

The most experienced political figures of the country - Deputy Chairman of the Senate S. Safoev, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Judicial-Legal Issues and Anti-Corruption N. Umarov, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Development of the Aral Sea Region B. Alikhanov and Chairman of the Senate Committee on Budget and economic reforms E. Gadoev.

Speaking S.Safoev informed the diplomats about the priority tasks for the implementation of the initiatives of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, voiced at the 75th session of the UN General Assembly.

The event also included a substantive discussion of the implementation of the program of measures for the development of the social sphere, anti-corruption issues, as well as the specifics of the state budget for 2021 and new approaches to the formation and execution of local budgets.

Based on the priority tasks voiced by the head of state, special attention is also paid to the development of the Aral Sea region, attracting foreign investments and advanced technologies to the region.

At the same time, at the training seminar, the mechanisms of interaction of diplomatic missions with the chambers of the Oliy Majlis, the possibility of using the tools of parliamentary diplomacy to promote the national interests of Uzbekistan were comprehensively considered.

Following the results of each report, a question-and-answer session was held, during which discussions were held on the topic under discussion.
