Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 12-14 March 2022, a regular meeting of the SCO Council of National Coordinators was held in Bukhara under the chairmanship of the Uzbek side.

At the center of the agenda of the meeting was the preparations for the meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the SCO Member States (CHS) in September 2022 in Samarkand. In this context, the national coordinators exchanged views on the schedule of main events under the chairmanship of Uzbekistan in the SCO.

Practical progress was noted in the implementation of last year’s decision of the CHS on the commencement of the procedure for the admission of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the SCO in the status of a member state. 

The progress in preparing draft memorandums on granting the Arab Republic of Egypt, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the State of Qatar the status of an SCO partner in dialogue, as well as on establishing partnerships with some other international associations, was discussed.

The Council of National Coordinators is the body of the SCO, which coordinates the current activities of the Organization.

In the period 2021-2022, the Republic of Uzbekistan chairs the SCO.
