Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 26 May 2021, a regular meeting of the Republican Council for work with international ratings and indices was held using a videoconferencing system.
It was attended by members of the Republican Council for work with international ratings and indices, chairmen of the Jokargy Kenes of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, local Kengashes of people's deputies.
At a meeting held by the Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, Chairman of the Republican Council Tanzila Narbaeva, the implementation in the first quarter of the action plan for 2021 to improve the position of the Republic of Uzbekistan in priority international ratings and indices in the socio-economic and political-legal spheres was discussed.
It was noted that over the past period of this year, Uzbekistan's positions in a number of international ratings of socio-economic and political-legal spheres have improved.
In particular, in the World Bank's Statistical Potential Index, Uzbekistan in 2020 rose by 16 positions compared to 2019 and took 61st place among 146 countries, and in the World Democracy Index in 2020 it rose by 2 positions and took 155th place out of 167 countries. In the Global Innovation Index, Uzbekistan, gaining 24.54 points out of 100, improved its position by 29 points compared to 2015 and took 93rd place among 131 countries and 4th place among countries of Central and South Asia.
In the World Bank's Women, Business and the Law Index, Uzbekistan, having risen by 5 positions with 70.6 points, entered the list of 27 states that have implemented important reforms in the field of women's rights and gender equality and took 134th place among 190 countries (in 2019 - 139th).
At the same time, the meeting developed and approved a "Roadmap" and a plan of additional measures aimed at making additions to the plan of measures to be implemented this year in order to further improve the country's position in structural indicators of international ratings and indices.
During the meeting, information was heard from members of the Republican Council - Minister of Innovative Development I. Abdurakhmanov and First Deputy Director of the Agency for Information and Mass Communications D. Saidjanov on measures taken to achieve the most important performance indicators (KPI) in international ratings and indices.
Based on the results of the meeting, taking into account the comments and suggestions made by the members of the Republican Council, an appropriate decision of the Republican Council was adopted and further work was agreed.
