Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 27 July 2022, a meeting of the Republican Commission on enhancing the role of women in society, gender equality and the family was held in the Senate of the Oliy Majlis.
The meeting was chaired by the Chairman of the Commission, Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Tanzila Narbayeva.
It was attended by members of the Republican and territorial commissions, representatives of ministries and departments, as well as the media.
During the meeting, the progress in fulfilling the tasks identified in the decrees and resolutions of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan adopted in March of this year to further accelerate work on systemic support for families and women was discussed.
As the Chairman of the Senate noted in her speech, large-scale work is being carried out in our country to comprehensively support women, increase their activity, and create the necessary conditions for them. In particular, important measures are being taken to strengthen the legislative and institutional framework for the protection of women's interests.
In particular, 20 draft regulatory legal acts (3 laws of the Republic of Uzbekistan, 1 Decree, 3 resolutions of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan and 14 resolutions of the Government) were developed and submitted to the Government in the prescribed manner. 3 of them were accepted and sent for implementation.
These resolutions also approved 4 provisions, 1 Roadmap and 1 forecast indicator regulating work in this direction.
In addition, the Republican Commission has developed a procedure for effectively organizing the work of active women in the mahalla and creating an exemplary system for working with women. In this direction, the tasks of the responsible ministries and departments and their subordinate structures have been developed. The members of the Republican Commission were assigned to the regions and the work in the field was organized in accordance with this procedure.
A separate working group has been formed, a draft law has been developed on improving legislation aimed at reliable protection of the rights, freedoms and legitimate interests of women and children.
As part of the meeting, a report was heard from the Chairman of the State Committee of the Family and Women on the progress in fulfilling the tasks identified in the Plan of Comprehensive Measures aimed at the implementation in 2022-2023 of the National Program to increase the activity of women in all spheres of the economic, political and social life of the country for 2022-2026.
At the meeting, they criticized the fact that the State Committee for Family and Women has not yet adopted a program for the development of women's entrepreneurship in the regions, work has not begun to train women leaders, work is slowly progressing to improve the living conditions of women, insufficient attention is paid to work on creating in mahallas employment and health centers for women.
In addition, the weakness of the work to study and identify appropriate measures to address the problems of women temporarily working abroad, who need to protect their rights and legitimate interests, promote the export of products manufactured by women entrepreneurs, and attract financial resources from international financial institutions for support and development of women's entrepreneurship.
Based on the discussions, responsible employees were given relevant instructions to study at the Academy of Public Administration until the end of the year and include 100 promising women in the national personnel reserve in order to prepare them for leadership positions, create at least one employment center in each district by September this year and improving women's health.
Members of the Commission assigned to the regions are also instructed to conduct a monthly targeted analysis of the progress and quality of execution in the regions of the tasks defined in the decrees and resolutions of the President, as well as instructions given at the meetings of the Commission, together with the relevant ministries and departments, to take measures to solve problems that resolved at the republican level, as well as submit information on the results to the Republican Commission.
At the same time, at the next meetings of the Commission, it is planned to hear information from the heads of responsible ministries and departments, heads of territories and members of the Commission on the progress in fulfilling these instructions.
