Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 12 April this year, a regular meeting of the Dialogue of Women Leaders of Central Asian Countries was held in the form of videoconference.
The event was attended by the Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Tanzila Narbayeva, as well as the Chairman of the Mejlis Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan G. Mamedova, Deputy Chairman of the Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan B. Kesebayeva, Chairman of the Committee on Women and Family Affairs under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan H. Kurbonzoda, Permanent Representative of the Kyrgyz Republic to the UN A. Kasymaliyeva, Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Central Asia N. German, Regional Director of the UN Women for Europe and Central Asia A. El-Yassir and representatives of a number of other international organizations.
As part of the Dialogue, the participants discussed the achievements of the countries of Central Asia in the implementation of policies to ensure gender equality.
During the discussion, T. Narbayeva congratulated Turkmenistan on the chairmanship of the platform in 2022 and wished great success. She also noted that within the framework of the Dialogue, significant progress has been made in ensuring gender equality in Central Asia, relations between countries to ensure and expand the rights and interests of women have reached a new level.
In turn, Natalia Gherman noted that the Dialogue platform is becoming more and more recognizable all over the world, and at the same time, the period of Uzbekistan's chairmanship in the platform was of great importance.
A. El-Yassir emphasized that the chairmanship of Uzbekistan in the Dialogue and the leadership of the country in the region in support of women raised the platform to an important political level.
In 2021 the Dialogue of Women Leaders of the Central Asian Countries was chaired by Uzbekistan, during this time 12 various events were organized and 8 important documents were adopted.
In accordance with the agenda of the meeting, the draft Regulations on the activities of the Dialogue of Women Leaders of the Central Asian Countries and the work plan of the platform for 2022 were discussed.
