A reception took place in Tashkent in honor of National Day of Romania

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 1 December 2021, the Embassy of Romania in Tashkent organized a reception on the occasion of the National Day of Romania.

The reception was attended by high officials of the Republic of Uzbekistan, diplomatic corps, representatives of business circles, cultural figures and members of the Romanian community in Tashkent.

The Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan was represented by the Minister of Higher and Secondary Specialized Education Mr. Abdukodir Toshkulov. From the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan participated Deputy Minister Mr. Gairat Fazilov and other diplomats.

During the celebration, a photo exhibition of Romanian inventors, as well as video documentaries of the rich historical and cultural heritage of the country, its economic and tourism potential were presented to the attendance.

The ambassador of Romania to the Republic of Uzbekistan, Mr. Daniel Cristian Ciobanu, noted that the National Day represents a landmark event for Romanians all over the world. “It is a moment which reminds us all of the historical act of 1st of December 1918, of the ideals which unite us, as well as of the values which define us as a nation”, he stressed.

“Nowadays deeply integrated in European Union and NATO, relishing the advantages of a strong Strategic Partnership with the United States, our country has come a long and difficult way, which we are bound to continue, in the years to come”, declared Mr. Daniel Cristian Ciobanu.

The ambassador mentioned that three months ago, on 25th of August 2021, he presented his credentials to the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan.  He thanked the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan for creating most favorable conditions for the implementation of his mandate.

“Romania intends to develop further its relations with Uzbekistan; enhancing our bilateral cooperation in the political filed, in economy and trade, as well as in the field of culture and education represents a priority goal for Romania in the Central Asia region”, he said.

According to him, the current reforms taking place in Uzbekistan open new perspectives for increased dialogue and cooperation between Romania and the Republic of Uzbekistan in all sectors of common interest.

He stressed that Romania will continue to plead for and fully support enhancement of Uzbekistan’s cooperation with the European Union.

“I am convinced that, with concerted efforts on both sides, we will be able to reach new heights in our relationship; on my side, I am proud to say that I was the first foreign Ambassador in Tashkent who escalated the Big Chimgan peak, more than 3300 meters high – an important public diplomacy event of the Romanian Embassy in Tashkent, dedicated to the 30th anniversary of Uzbekistan’s independence”, added Mr. Daniel Cristian Ciobanu.

He concluded by expressing his readiness to work even more, together with Uzbek counterparts, to the benefit of Romania-Uzbekistan bilateral relations.

During the evening of 1 December 2021 the official logo of the National Day of Romania was projected on the facade of Hotel “Uzbekistan” in Tashkent, one of the most famous and most recognizable local buildings.
