Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan from 4 April “On measures to implement the project “Creation of the scientific and educational part of the innovative pharmaceutical cluster “Tashkent Pharma Park” (I phase)” was adopted.
By the resolution of the President of Uzbekistan from 28 January 2020 No. PP-4574, an innovative scientific and production pharmaceutical cluster "Tashkent Pharma Park" was created in Zangiata district of Tashkent region.
The cluster includes the Pharmaceutical Technical University with its own infrastructure, consisting of research centers and laboratories, a pharmacopoeial center and a symposium center with a hotel, as well as an industrial zone for the production of innovative medicines, medical products and medical equipment.
The project is supposed to be implemented in two phases with phased financing and construction and installation works.
At the first stage, the construction of a multidisciplinary university will be carried out, including educational buildings, educational and scientific laboratories, a preclinical research center, a pharmacopoeial center, a library, a sports and recreation complex, and a hostel.
The Government of the Republic of Korea, through the Korea Eximbank Economic Development and Cooperation Fund (EDCF), provided the Republic of Uzbekistan with a loan in the amount of US$83.7 million for 40 years with a 10-year grace period.
A feasibility study for a project with a total cost of US$98.6 million has been developed. The Agency for the Development of the Pharmaceutical Industry has been identified as the executive body responsible for the implementation of the project.
The resolution approved:
the main technical and economic indicators of the project "Creation of the scientific and educational part of the innovative pharmaceutical cluster "Tashkent Pharma Park" (I phase)";
forecast schedule of interest and principal payments on the EDCF loan.
