Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 1 July 2021, a presentation of the book “Epidermolysis bullosa. A guide for doctors” by Nikolay Murashkin and Leyla Namazova-Baranova, translated into Uzbek language was held in Tashkent. This is a significant event for the medical community of Uzbekistan, since the book is the first medical manual for this genetic disease.
The book has been translated into Uzbek thanks to the support of the Alisher Usmanov Art Science and Sport Foundation and the Russian Foundation Children of the Butterfly. It will be donated to national libraries and all medical institutions and educational institutions of Uzbekistan. The Republican Center of Dermatology will distribute it to all regional dermatovenerologic dispensaries as a consolidated encyclopedic publication. This will contribute to the education of professionals involved in the treatment of people with rare genetic diseases. The book will be used as a manual for the professional education of medical specialists: dermatologists, pediatric neonatologists, surgeons, dentists, psychologists.
The publication contains not only the latest data on the prevalence, etiology, pathogenesis and possible methods of diagnosis and treatment of an incredibly severe, genetically determined form of the disease, but also the authors' own observations of the life stories of "butterflies" over five years.
The event dedicated to the presentation of the book was attended by the author of the book Nikolai Murashkin, head of the Russian charitable foundation "Butterfly Children" Alena Kuratova, representatives of the Ministry of Health, doctors and media representatives.
It should be noted that an electronic version of the book in Russian and Uzbek languages will also be available. It can be downloaded from the official website of the Kapalak Bolalar NGO.
