A New Rotor Delivered to Sirdarya TPP to Restore Turbine Operation
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A new rotor for Gas Turbine No. 2 has been delivered from Japan to the 1,500 MW ACWA Power Sirdarya plant in Sirdarya Region, commissioned by the Saudi company ACWA Power.
The replacement became necessary following a detected malfunction in the turbine.
The 114-ton rotor was manufactured by Mitsubishi and arrived at Tashkent International Airport on December 8 via a special flight, after which it was transported directly to the power plant site.
Installation and commissioning work is expected to take approximately one month.
To maintain stable power supply during the rotor installation, backup capacities and the station’s new power units are being used.
Due to low solar activity and short daylight hours, electricity generation by photovoltaic plants has temporarily decreased, which may cause brief power interruptions in some regions during peak hours (17:00–21:00). Consumers will be notified in advance if necessary.
After the new rotor is installed, ACWA Power Sirdarya’s design capacity will be fully restored, and temporary measures for electricity regulation will be lifted.
The Ministry of Energy apologizes for any inconvenience and emphasizes that all work is being carried out in close coordination with investors, contractors, and relevant agencies to ensure the safety and stability of the power supply.
