Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - As part of the participation of delegations of foreign countries in observing the presidential elections to be held on 24 October, the First Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sodiq Safoev met with observers of the Parliamentary Assembly Turkic-speaking countries.

The mission includes experts from Turkey, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, who will monitor the preparation and conduct of the presidential elections.

During the meeting, the parties noted the developing relations within the framework of cooperation between the Turkic-speaking states in socio-political directions, in trade, economic, tourism, scientific, cultural and other spheres.

The members of the delegation highly appreciated the consistent reforms being carried out in Uzbekistan to improve the national electoral legislation, in which international standards are implemented.

- For every Turk, Uzbekistan is like his own Motherland. Undoubtedly, we are very pleased to observe the elections in Uzbekistan. During our mission, we will visit the district and precinct election commissions, follow the electoral process, conduct a legal examination of the electoral legislation, how the principles of openness and transparency of elections are observed. We hope that this important event, which will take place on 24 October, will serve the development of the country, for the benefit of the Uzbek people.
