Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - As part of the participation of the Uzbek delegation in the Eurasian Women’s Forum, the Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Tanzila Narbaeva met with Vice-President of the OSCE Parliament Assembly, Special Representative for Central Asia Pia Kauma.

An exchange of views took place on the state and prospects of interaction, expanding contacts within the OSCE PA, as well as deepening partnership with the Parliamentary Assembly in the field of the perfection of the legislative process and studying the best international experience in the implementation of parliamentary control.

Pia Kauma highly appreciated and supported the democratic transformations and socio-economic reforms carried out at the new stage in Uzbekistan, as well as the dynamically developing relations between the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the OSCE PA.

It was noted that in recent years, a major breakthrough has been achieved in bilateral relations thanks to the open and balanced policy of the leadership of Uzbekistan to strengthen international and regional cooperation.

Kauma noted the importance of close coordination between the OSCE PA and the Oliy Majlis in organizing election observation missions. She expressed readiness to provide comprehensive assistance to Uzbekistan in the implementation of democratic transformations and efforts to strengthen the institutions of civil society, as well as to support the activities of the republic’s parliament in the OSCE PA.

The OSCE PA Vice President praised the outcome of Mehr’s humanitarian operations to return more than 400 women and children from the war zone in the Middle East.

During the meeting, the parties agreed to develop a systemic dialogue and active contacts, including interaction within the OSCE PA.
