Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 14 June 2022, Ravshanbek Alimov, Chairman of the Committee of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan on International Relations, Foreign Economic Relations, Foreign Investments and Tourism, met with the Chairman of the Committee of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic on International Affairs, defense, security and migration Chingiz Aidarbekov via videoconference.

The event, organized on the initiative of the Kyrgyz side, was also attended by the heads of the diplomatic missions of Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan, respectively, in Bishkek and Tashkent.

During the meeting, the state and prospects for the development of bilateral relations were discussed. The parties dwelled in detail on the areas of trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian cooperation between Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan.

An exchange of views took place on joint activities to enhance inter-parliamentary cooperation, including within the framework of international inter-parliamentary organizations, as well as contacts between relevant parliamentary committees.

In addition, the parties stressed the importance of further developing cooperation between the legislative bodies of the two countries on the exchange of experience in lawmaking, organizing effective parliamentary control over the practical implementation of the Uzbek-Kyrgyz agreements at the highest level, comprehensively promoting the development of mutually beneficial ties between the regions of the two countries, further strengthening the mechanisms of public diplomacy in the interests of peoples of Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan.

The importance of continuing cooperation in the format of parliamentary friendship groups was noted.

An agreement was reached to support close contacts between parliamentary committees and exchange proposals on filling the cooperation agenda with new practical content.
