Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 3 February 2023, Chairwoman of the Senate of Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan Tanzila Narbayeva met with Hanan Ahli, Director of the Federal Competitiveness and Statistics Center (FCSC) of Uzbekistan.

The Center is one of the most important government sources of national data and monitoring of the UAE’s competitiveness in global reports and is responsible for the sustainable development goals in the UAE.

During the conversation, the parties exchanged views on work with international ratings and indices, as well as issues of ensuring gender balance.

In particular, Tanzila Narbayeva stressed that the experience of the UAE in working with international ratings and indices is important, in connection with which the Emirates and Uzbekistan need to exchange methodological and other advanced developments in this area.

In turn, Hanan Ahli highly appreciated the ongoing reforms in Uzbekistan, especially the achievements in the economy and positive indicators in international ratings. It was also emphasized that multilateral relations between Uzbekistan and the Emirates are developing thanks to the efforts and constant dialogue of the leaders of the two countries.

It was noted that two important political initiatives to ensure gender equality in the UAE, namely the improvement of legislation, as well as the increase in the level of education and socio-political awareness of women, contributed to the fact that the share of women in parliament reached 50%, and in public administration - 30%.

During the meeting, issues of increasing the level of employment of women in government bodies, actively involving them in business and the private sector, and establishing mutual cooperation in the field of ensuring gender equality were discussed.

At the end of the meeting, the parties reached an agreement on the development of a memorandum of cooperation between the Republican Council for International Ratings and Indices of Uzbekistan and the Federal Competitiveness and Statistics Center of the UAE, as well as a roadmap for the implementation of the plans.
