Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 29 March 2021, a meeting of the Parliamentary Commission for Monitoring the Implementation of the National Goals and Objectives for Sustainable Development of the Republic of Uzbekistan for the period up to 2030 was held by videoconference.
It was attended by members of the Parliamentary Commission and the Coordination Council, chairmen of the standing commissions of local Kengashes of people's deputies, chairman of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, regional khokims, heads of ministries and departments and their territorial offices, representatives of non-governmental non-profit organizations.
First, a brief report on the activities of the Parliamentary Commission for the past 2020 was presented at the meeting.
In particular, it was noted that with the participation of members of the Parliamentary Commission, a draft of the first Voluntary National Review on the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals of Uzbekistan was developed. Our country was among the 49 countries that first presented this overview at the high-level political forum on sustainable development.
In addition, in 7 regions of the republic, studies were carried out on 3 national goals, 30 tasks and 55 indicators in the field of strengthening food security in the field of sustainable development, protection of mothers and children, ensuring gender equality and protecting the rights of women.
Based on the national goals and objectives in the field of sustainable development, the Senate sent 13 parliamentary inquiries to the members of the government, 14 parliamentary inquiries were sent by the Legislative Chamber, 338 deputy and 388 senatorial inquiries were sent to the state authorities and management of the chambers of the Oliy Majlis.
During the study, members of the Parliamentary Commission visited more than a thousand apartments included in the "iron notebook". The population raised almost 300 issues, 74% of which were resolved on the spot.
The meeting considered the work done in 2020 by the Coordination Council for monitoring the implementation of the National Goals and Objectives in the field of sustainable development for the period up to 2030, as well as the implementation of the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of October 20, 2018 No. 841. Council for monitoring the implementation of the National Goals and Objectives in the field of sustainable development for the period up to 2030 - Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan J. Kuchkarov.
It was noted that, according to the decree of the Cabinet of Ministers of October 20, 2018, it was planned to hear reports from ministries and departments and working groups on the implementation of national goals and objectives and the achievement of results. But it is limited only to hearing information from the chairman of the State Statistics Committee.
In addition, the “Roadmap” approved by the resolution consists of 3 directions and 15 points, of which 10 points have been fulfilled, and 5 have not been fulfilled.
The meeting also heard information from the First Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction S. Kholkhujaev on the results of studying the state of work to reduce poverty in the Republic of Karakalpakstan, Surkhandarya and Kashkadarya regions.
It was noted that in the Republic of Karakalpakstan 7.5% of the population are considered poor, in the Surkhandarya region - 9.6%. Kashkadarya region is one of the regions with the most acute problem of poverty. 300 thousand inhabitants of the region, that is, 9% of the population, are poor.
Cases of embezzlement of budget funds in 2020 compared to 2019 increased in the Republic of Karakalpakstan - from 192 to 223, in Kashkadarya region - from 194 to 195. The volume of embezzled funds only in Kashkadarya region increased 5.5 times.
Responsible employees of ministries and departments of the republic provided information on these issues.
The UN Resident Coordinator in Uzbekistan Helena Fraser, UNDP Resident Representative in Uzbekistan Matilda Dimovska also took part in the meeting.
Appropriate decisions were made on the issues considered.
