A meeting of the National Council for Combating Corruption of the Republic of Uzbekistan takes place

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - A meeting of the National Council for Combating Corruption of the Republic of Uzbekistan was held. It was moderated by the Chairperson of the Senate, Chairperson of the National Council Tanzila Narbaeva.

During the meeting, which was attended by members of the Council, heads of ministries and departments, chairman of the Jokargy Kenes of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, khokims of regions and the city of Tashkent, it was noted that over the past period, the country has carried out certain work to combat corruption.

In particular, two important documents of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan were adopted - a decree and a resolutin on the creation of an environment of intolerant attitude towards corruption, a radical reduction in corruption factors in state and public administration, as well as the effective organization of anti-corruption activities. The State Anti-Corruption Program for 2021-2022 was adopted.

At the meeting, specific instructions were given to increase the personal responsibility of the first heads of ministries and departments for executive discipline, the full implementation of the tasks specified in the minutes of the meeting of the National Council.

In addition, the author analyzes corruption crimes committed in the spheres of preschool education, public education, culture, health care, employment and transport, in the system of local executive authorities, as well as the reasons for their occurrence.

Along with this, the meeting discussed the results of studying the effectiveness and targeted use of budget funds for the construction, reconstruction and repair of preschool educational institutions in the implementation of state programs in 2017-2020.

It was noted that according to the results of the first half of 2021, financial errors and shortcomings were identified in 89 cases in the construction of the preschool education system. In 2019-2020 and the first half of 2021, during the implementation of capital repairs in 50 preschool educational institutions, budget funds were embezzled.

A study conducted in the higher education system revealed misappropriation of funds by accountants at two universities.

The meeting outlined important tasks to strengthen financial discipline and increase the revenue side of the budget.

Information was heard from the ministers of public education, culture, health, employment and labor relations, transport, energy, as well as khokims of Jizzakh, Namangan, Syrdarya and Tashkent regions on eliminating detected cases of corruption and taking preventive measures to prevent such cases in the future.

Following the meeting, the Regulation on the National Council for Combating Corruption of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Model Regulation on Territorial Councils for Combating Corruption, the work plan of the National Council for the second half of 2021 were approved.
