Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Within the framework of the chairmanship of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the Commonwealth of Independent States, today the thirtieth meeting of the Coordination Council of the Prosecutors General of the CIS member states was held by videoconference.
The General Prosecutor of the Republic of Uzbekistan N. Yuldashev was chaired.
At the opening of the meeting, Secretary of the Security Council under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan V. Mahmudov read the congratulations of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sh. M. Mirziyoyev to the participants of the event.
It should be noted that the holding of such prestigious international conferences at a high level under the leadership of Uzbekistan is the result of a radically updated foreign policy of our state.
In particular, in December 2016, Uzbekistan joined the decisions of the Council of Heads of State of the Commonwealth of Independent States on the Coordination Council of Prosecutors General.
This made it possible for the General Prosecutor’s Office of Uzbekistan to strengthen participation in the activities of the Council, effectively use its territory for constructive dialogue and exchange of experience.
It should be noted that this year Uzbekistan is chairing the Commonwealth of Independent States.
Within the framework of this authority, it is important and symbolic that the General Prosecutor’s Office holds solemn events dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the Coordination Council of the CIS General Prosecutors, the 25th anniversary of the creation of this Council and the 20th anniversary of its status as a state body.
As noted in the President’s congratulations to the conference participants, the Coordination Council of Prosecutors General will undoubtedly remain an important structure in improving the law enforcement systems of the CIS states, capable of preventing and adequately responding to modern criminal threats.
Mutual active actions in the implementation of activities of joint programs to combat crime will serve to further strengthen interdepartmental cooperation within the framework of the Commonwealth.
The decisions taken at the end of the conference will undoubtedly raise to a new level the cooperation of the prosecutors of our states in the fight against crime on the territory of the CIS, in the field of strengthening the rule of law and law and order, as well as protecting the rights and freedoms of citizens.
It was especially noted that the adoption of today’s decisions, taking into account the experience and lessons accumulated in the context of a pandemic, undoubtedly is of great importance in ensuring security, combating organized crime, protecting the rights and interests of entrepreneurs operating in the CIS.
In particular, the decisions taken on a number of topical issues, such as the fight against transnational crime, ensuring prosecutorial supervision over the implementation of legislation aimed at protecting the rights of entrepreneurs, strengthening the role of prosecutors in the fight against corruption, extremism and terrorism, preventing illegal migration will serve as unconditional implementation human rights and legal interests on the territory of the CIS member states.
The meeting was attended by members of the Coordination Council, Executive Secretary of the Council L. Ermolaev, 1-Deputy Chairman of the CIS Executive Committee, as well as the President of the International Association of Prosecutors Chkhol-Kyu Hwan.
It was decided to hold the next meeting of the General Prosecutors of the CIS member states in 2021 in the Republic of Kazakhstan.
It is important to note that the members of the Council, in particular the Chairman of the Council, the Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation I. Krasnov, highly appreciated the organizational processes of this event held by the General Prosecutor’s Office of Uzbekistan and put forward a proposal to introduce it as a positive experience.
