A meeting of the Committee on International Relations, Foreign Economic Relations, Foreign Investment and Tourism takes place

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 15 December 2020, a meeting of the Senate Committee of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan on international relations, foreign economic relations, foreign investment and tourism was held. It was attended by members of the Senate, heads of relevant ministries and departments, as well as representatives of the media.

During the meeting, the issues that are planned to be considered at the tenth plenary session of the Senate and submitted by the Committee were preliminary discussed.

First, the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan "On the State Budget of the Republic of Uzbekistan for 2021" was considered. The opinions and proposals on the law of senators, representatives of relevant ministries and departments were heard.

During the discussion, it was noted that in the development of the State Budget for 2021, the main attention was paid to maintaining macroeconomic stability, stabilizing stimulating fiscal measures, and ensuring high rates of economic growth.

In addition, the discussion centered on the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On the accession of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the International Convention on the Simplification and Harmonization of Customs Procedures (Kyoto, on 18 May 1973, as amended on 26 June 1999)”.

The information on the Law of the responsible representative of the State Customs Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan was heard.

It was noted that the purpose of this Law is to simplify and harmonize customs legislation and procedures based on the provisions of the Kyoto Convention developed by the World Customs Organization. The provisions of the convention are developed in a standard recommendatory form.

Currently, 121 states out of 183 members of the World Customs Organization, as well as 7 CIS member states, including Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Ukraine, have acceded to this Convention.

It was emphasized at the meeting that Uzbekistan’s accession to the international act would create many opportunities such as increasing the country’s ranking in a number of international assessment indices in the future, determining the strategic direction for improving national customs legislation and further improving the country’s investment climate.

An appropriate decision of the Committee was made on the issues considered.
