Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- At the seventh plenary meeting of the Senate, within the framework of the agenda, the Law "On Amendments and Additions to Certain Legislative Acts of the Republic of Uzbekistan in order to increase the efficiency of the use of agricultural land and forest resources" was discussed.

It was noted that this Law introduces amendments and additions to the Code of Administrative Responsibility and the Land Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan, as well as the laws "On Farming", "On Dekhkan Economy", "On Pastures", "On Forest", "On Protected Natural Areas ".

Rational use of available land resources, protection of ‘ ‘fertile territories and forest resources in our country are of topical importance not only from the economic, but also from the environmental point of view. Therefore, this Law is aimed at ensuring the efficiency of work in this direction, improving the regulatory framework of the sphere based on modern requirements.

In particular, the Law establishes specific mechanisms for leasing irrigated lands that are no longer used in agriculture on the basis of an investment agreement or a public-private partnership, as well as rainfed lands and unused lands of the forest fund.

The Law stipulates that the lessee, upon early termination of the term of the land lease agreement, has the right to use the land until the expiration of the term provided for by the agreement.

The law, first of all, contributes to a change in people’s attitudes to the land, the implementation of urgent tasks to ensure food security.
