Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Fraud related to admission to a higher educational institution has been prevented in Samarkand region. A citizen, who promised to help a person to become student of the university for US$7,000, was detained. This was announced by the Department for Combating Corruption and Economic Crimes of the Main Directorate of Criminal Investigation of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

According to the information, citizens of R.Sh. and M.M. asked to take legal action against citizens "Khasan" and "Akmal" for asking US$7,000 for the admission of citizen R.Sh. to the Tashkent Medical Academy.

During joint law enforcement activities, the head of a private educational center was detained while receiving money in the amount of US$7,000 in an office building. It is also reported about the detention of the assistant leader.

On 26 June, the investigative department of the Internal Affairs Directorate of Akdarya district of Samarkand region opened a criminal case under paragraph "a" of part 3 of article 168 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan (Fraud committed on a large scale). Investigative actions are underway.
