Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – On 14 August 2021, at one of the sections of the State Border with Afghanistan, a group of military personnel of the Afghan Armed Forces in the amount of 84 people crossed the state border line and were detained by border detachments of the border forces of the State Securirt Service of Uzbekistan, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan said in a statement. At the same time, the violators of the border did not resist and asked for help, including medical aid for the three wounded.

The necessary filtration procedures and sanitary and epidemiological measures were carried out with these Afghan citizens, medical assistance was provided to some of them, as well as food and their temporary accommodation was organized.

At the same time, a congestion of Afghan government troops was observed on the Afghan part of the Termez-Hairaton bridge. Measures are being taken to provide humanitarian assistance to these persons.

The Uzbek Foreign Ministry is negotiating with the Afghan side on the return of Afghan citizens to their homeland and the settlement of the situation in the area of the Termez-Hairaton bridge.

In addition, during 14 August, the return of citizens of the Republic of Uzbekistan from the staff of the Termez-Mazar-i-Sharif railway section was organized.

It should be noted that the protection of the state border is carried out in an enhanced regime, all the necessary security measures have been taken. An operational headquarters has been deployed in Termez, which includes the heads of security agencies and representatives of state authorities.
