Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – Amendments and additions were introduced to the law “On Guarantees of Equal Rights and Opportunities for Women and Men”.

According to the Law, the following new concepts were introduced:

- gender audit - study and assessment of the state of compliance with the requirements of legislation on guarantees of equal rights and opportunities for women and men, as well as an integrated gender approach in the activities of state bodies and organizations, including in the conduct of personnel policy";

  - an integrated gender approach - the organization by state bodies and organizations of their activities, including the conduct of personnel policy in accordance with the legislation on guarantees of equal rights and opportunities for women and men.

The main tasks of the gender audit are:

- study of the ratio of the number of women and men in state bodies and organizations;

- study of the state of the organization by state bodies and organizations of their activities on the basis of an integrated gender approach;

- assessment of the state of implementation of legislation in the field of ensuring equal rights and opportunities for women and men;

- development of proposals to ensure equal rights and opportunities for women and men.

Gender audit is carried out on the basis of the approved three-year plan by the Federation of Trade Unions of Uzbekistan in state bodies and organizations within the framework of public control.

The law comes into force from the day of its official publication.
