A delegation of Uzbekistan took part in the 12th meeting of deputy ministers of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Central Asia

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 11 December 2022, in Ashgabat, a delegation of the Republic of Uzbekistan headed by Deputy Foreign Minister Gairat Fozilov took part in the 12th meeting of Deputy Foreign Ministers of Central Asian countries, organized under the auspices of the Regional Center United Nations Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia (UNRCCA).

The event was also attended by the Deputy Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic Aibek Moldogaziyev, the Republic of Tajikistan - Muzaffar Khusainzoda, Turkmenistan - Vepa Khadjiev, the head of the Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Didar Temenov, the head of the UNRCCA Natalya German, experts from international and regional organizations.

The participants of the meeting reviewed the current state and prospects for cooperation in Central Asia, the main challenges and threats to security in the region, the results of UNRCCA activities this year, as well as plans for 2023.

In its speech, the Uzbek delegation informed the participants of the event in detail about the key areas of foreign policy and important initiatives of the Head of our state.

It was emphasized that Uzbekistan is steadily advancing the agenda of good neighborliness and regional partnership.

The participants of the event were informed about the efforts of Uzbekistan to prevent an environmental catastrophe in the Aral Sea region and promote the "green" agenda.

Particular attention was paid to the initiative put forward by the leadership of the republic to form a high-level international negotiating group to prepare and agree with the Afghan authorities on an algorithm for the phased fulfillment of the obligations of the parties.

The main essence and significance of this format, which will bring the countries’ positions closer to the new authorities of Afghanistan, will create conditions for reaching a mutually beneficial consensus on the country’s peaceful development, is explained.
