A delegation of Uzbekistan takes part in the SCO CFM meeting in Moscow

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 9-10 September 2020, a delegation of the Republic of Uzbekistan led by Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulaziz Kamilov took part in a regular meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization member states in Moscow. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan.

The heads of the foreign affairs agencies of India, Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, with the participation of the SCO Secretary General and the Director of the Executive Committee of the SCO Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure, discussed the preparations for the upcoming meeting of the Council of Heads of Member States of the Organization.

The ministers considered the draft agenda and documents proposed for signing during the meeting of the Council of Heads of SCO Member States.

An exchange of views took place on expanding the interaction of the Organization’s member states to advance the peace process in Afghanistan. It was noted that the involvement of Afghanistan in regional economic processes and infrastructure projects contributes to sustainable development and stabilization of the entire SCO space.

At the event, special attention was paid to topical aspects of further expanding partnerships between the SCO and the relevant UN agencies. In this context, the importance of signing memorandums of understanding between the SCO and such UN institutions as the Economic Commission for Europe, ESCAP, UNCTAD and WHO was expressed.

The parties also exchanged views on topical international and regional issues. Appropriate decisions were signed on certain issues.

Following the meeting, the heads of the delegations were received by the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin.
