Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Today, on 8 July 2020, a delegation of the Republic of Uzbekistan, consisting of representatives of the Department for Combating Economic Crimes at the General Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Uzbekistan, took part in the 15th meeting of the Council of Heads of Financial Intelligence Units of the Member States CIS (SRPFR) held in the format of video conference.

The meeting was attended by delegations of the SRPFR member states (Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan), as well as representatives of the CIS Executive Committee and the International Training Center for Financial Monitoring. The meeting was chaired by the Chairman of the SRPFR, Yu.A. Chikhanchin (Russian Federation).

According to the agenda, delegations discussed relevant issues of combating money laundering and the financing of terrorism (AML / CFT) in the Eurasian region, as well as measures to strengthen international cooperation in order to strengthen national AML / CFT systems.

In particular, one of the main issues on the agenda was the creation of the International Center for the Assessment of the Risks of Money Laundering and the Financing of Terrorism, the consolidation of the legal status of this center, as well as the discussion of the interaction between the countries participating in the SRPFM within the framework of this project.

During the meeting of the SRPFR, the results of an analytical study on the turnover of crypto assets initiated by the Republic of Uzbekistan were approved.

In addition, the meeting participants agreed to carry out monitoring of criminogenic behavior in the cryptocurrency system.

In the framework of this meeting, delegations also considered issues related to the activities of the SRPFR and its working groups.

The participation of the delegation of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the work of such international events serves to increase the capacity of the national system in the field of AML / CFT, as well as strengthen cooperation at the international and regional levels.
