Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 8 December 2020, within the framework of events related to the holding of the third meeting of the Council of Heads of Border Regions of the Republic of Uzbekistan and plenipotentiaries of the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic in border regions, a delegation of the Kyrgyz Republic led by the Acting Prime Minister A. Novikov and as part of the plenipotentiary representatives of the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic in Batken, Jalal-Abad and Osh regions, as well as heads of ministries and departments, she got acquainted with the industrial potential of the Fergana region, visiting a number of production enterprises and facilities.
So, in particular, the delegation visited a modern textile enterprise "Narimteks" in Margilan. The US$8 million project was completed in 2008; the factory currently employs 180 people and has an annual production of 100,000 units of finished textile products.
The delegation also visited a high-tech plant for the production of household sanitary ware and building ceramics "Eco-Kerama", located in the Fergana region of the Fergana region. Production was launched in June of this year, and already now the total volume of manufactured products amounted to about 500 thousand finished products, and the number of people employed in production was more than 200. The enterprise is unique in its sector in Central Asia and has a high export potential with the future coverage of markets in Central Asia and the CIS.
In addition, the Uzbek experience in the production of fruit and berry wines was studied at the France - Uzbekistan joint venture. The plant has been operating since 2020 - at present, the production of natural wines from grapes, pomegranates, quince and other crops has been mastered, and the annual production is 250 thousand decaliters.
The entrepreneurs familiarized the guests with the production process, spoke in detail about the technologies used, demonstrated product samples, and also shared their plans for the future.
During the visit, the members of the delegation noted significant opportunities for establishing industrial cooperation between Uzbek and Kyrgyz producers, meaning the creation of joint ventures for the production of products in demand both in the markets of the two countries and in foreign markets. Industrial cooperation will also contribute to strengthening trade and economic cooperation at the regional level by building complete value chains with the involvement of manufacturing enterprises located in the border regions of the two countries. The proximity of production complexes, in turn, will increase the competitiveness of products by reducing transportation costs.
During the visit to the enterprises, contacts were exchanged and further steps were outlined to establish business partnerships.
