Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- At present, the joint-stock company Uzsuvtaminot with the participation of the Asian Development Bank is implementing the project "Construction and reconstruction of water supply and sanitation systems in 7 cities and districts of Tashkent region."

Now, as part of the project, which is scheduled to be fully completed in 2025, contracts are being signed with companies that have won tenders.

So, today, a contract worth US$22.2 million was signed between Uzsuvtaminot JSC, ALKATAŞ İNŞAAT VE TAAHHÜT JV and MESMER-EAST LLC for the reconstruction of a sewage treatment plant in Chirchik. At the moment, the installed capacity of this facility is 80 thousand cubic meters per day. It is expected that after the reconstruction this figure will increase to 130,000 cubic meters per day.

It should be noted that within the framework of the project “Construction and reconstruction of water supply and sanitation systems in 7 cities and districts of Tashkent region”, it is also planned to build 12.8 km of new and reconstruct 16 km of existing sewer networks.

As a result, the level of coverage of the city’s population with centralized sewerage services will be increased from the current 61 to 84 percent.
