A ceremony of handing over Romanian books to the National Library of Uzbekistan named after Alisher Navoi takes place

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 6 September 2022, a ceremony of handing over Romanian books will be held in the lobby of the National Library of Uzbekistan named after Alisher Navoi.

The books (44 volumes) are a gift from the National Library of Romania to the National Library of Uzbekistan named after Alisher Navoi. Their themes are related to culture, history, contemporary and popular art, and fiction.

The event is designed to show the importance of developing interaction in the cultural and humanitarian sphere between Romania and the Republic of Uzbekistan.

This is the second public diplomacy event organized at the initiative of the Embassy of Romania in the Republic of Uzbekistan as part of the celebration of 160 years of Romanian diplomacy (on 27 July 2022, Romania celebrated the 160th anniversary of the establishment of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs under the name "Department of Foreign and State Affairs"), and also in honor of the 31st anniversary of the independence of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The first event was the ascent of the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Romania to the Republic of Uzbekistan, Mr. Daniel Cristian Ciobanu, to Hazrat Sultan (4083 meters) in the Kashkadarya region and recording a video in Uzbek with congratulations on the occasion of the Independence Day of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

On 7 September 2022, the third event will take place in the city of Termez, namely, the transfer, with the help of UNICEF, of medical equipment purchased at the expense of the Romanian state for the Surkhandarya Regional Children’s Multidisciplinary Center.

From 12 to 21 January 2022, the exhibition "Romania’s Contribution to the World Cultural Heritage" was organized in the lobby of the National Library of Uzbekistan named after Alisher Navoi. The exhibition was a great success among visitors to the National Library of the Republic of Uzbekistan and received positive coverage in the Uzbek media and social networks, thereby contributing to the formation of a positive image of Romania, Romanian culture and civilization at the level of public opinion in the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The ongoing reforms in Uzbekistan open up good prospects for expanding dialogue and contacts between Romania and Uzbekistan at all levels.
