A 100 MW Gas-Powered Power Plant Commissioned in Tashkent

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Today, at the International Congress Center and with the participation of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, an official ceremony was held to launch a new gas-powered power plant within the JSC “Thermal Power Plants” system.

The modern 100 MW generating unit is located at Thermal Center No. 4 in the Yunusabad district of the capital.

Its commissioning was announced as part of the forum. The project aims to strengthen energy supply resilience, reduce natural gas consumption, and create additional jobs.

The project was implemented in partnership with Chinese company CNTIC, Vpower Holdings Singapore Pte. Limited, and Cntic Vpower Thermal Energy.

The plant’s generation site is equipped with 70 cogeneration gas piston units, 70 heat exchange modules, and 35 transformers. The outdoor 110 kV switchyard includes two power transformers, nine SF₆ circuit breakers, six high-voltage support devices, and four disconnectors.

The new facility has created 50 jobs. The plant is expected to produce an average of 876 million kWh of electricity and 784 thousand Gcal of thermal energy annually. This will allow savings of up to 15 million cubic meters of natural gas per year.

As a result of the project, electricity will additionally serve approximately 365,000 households, while heat supply will cover around 58,000 households.

This represents a significant contribution to improving the quality of life for the population and ensuring stable operation of industrial enterprises.

The commissioning of the new plant is an important step in ensuring uninterrupted electricity supply to the capital’s consumers, increasing energy efficiency, and reducing environmental impact.
