Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- In 2021, in accordance with the instructions of the head of our state, 20,000 additional places were created by optimizing living rooms in existing student dormitories and introducing bunk beds.
At a press conference in Tashkent with the participation of officials from the Ministry of Higher and Secondary Specialized Education, the Ministry of Finance and the Agency for the Development of Public-Private Partnerships, information was provided on the essence and content of the Regulations on the procedure for providing subsidies from the State budget for the construction of student dormitories on the terms of public private partnership.
At the expense of the state budget, non-budgetary funds of higher educational institutions, as well as on the basis of public-private partnership and lease, 29 additional student dormitories for 11.4 thousand places were organized and put into operation.
As a result of these reforms, the number of student dormitories in state higher educational institutions was increased to 257, which made it possible to accommodate 91.4 thousand students and satisfy the need for dormitories by 41%. Despite this, there is still demand in student residences for an additional 131,600 beds.
