Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 27 March, the celebration of the 45th anniversary of the formation of the district and the spring holiday “Navruz” took place in Ellikkala district of Karakalpakstan. With a solemn speech, the event was opened by the Chairman of the Jokargy Kenes of the Republic of Karakalpakstan Murat Kamalov.

The event was attended by representatives of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, the Ministry of Tourism and Cultural Heritage, the Khokimiyat of Ellikkala district, as well as residents of the district. As part of a press tour organized by the Ministry of Tourism and Cultural Heritage, foreign and local media representatives were able to get acquainted with the potential of the area and capture the wide celebration of the people.

The event featured folk dances, handicraft exhibitions, competitions in national sports, book fairs, traditional ceremonies, a photo gallery of the Ellikkala region from its inception to the present day, and much more.

Ellikkala district was formed in 1977. There are 21 archaeological, 10 architectural monuments, 5 sights and 3 pilgrimage sites in the region. In the service sector, there are 4 new hotels with 200 seats, about 10 guest houses, a central stadium with 200 seats, an indoor pool and an amphitheater with 3,000 seats.
