Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - The Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan "On the establishment of the Day of Friendship of Peoples", included in the agenda of the twelfth plenary session of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, was discussed.

In the domestic and foreign policy of New Uzbekistan, which is moving from national revival to national progress, radical changes and reforms are taking place, which are the basis of the Third Renaissance.

In particular, thanks to our policy of good-neighborliness and constructive dialogue, a completely new friendly environment has formed in Central Asia.

In the Action Strategy for five priority areas of development of the Republic of Uzbekistan in 2017-2021, issues of ensuring security, interethnic harmony and religious tolerance, as well as conducting a balanced, mutually beneficial foreign policy are identified as a priority task.

In the Address of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, it was proposed to the parliament to establish July 30 in Uzbekistan as the "Day of Friendship of Peoples", taking into account the fact that this date is widely celebrated annually as the International Day of Friendship by the resolution of the General Assembly of the United Nations.

In addition, the State Program "Year of Development of Science, Education and the Digital Economy", approved in accordance with the Presidential Decree from 2 March 2020, sets out the task of developing a draft Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan "On the establishment of the Day of Friendship of Peoples of National Solidarity."

The Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan "On the establishment of the Day of Friendship of Peoples", developed to ensure the implementation of these tasks, embodies the ideas of tolerance and eternal friendship inherent in our people.

Today in our country there are more than 130 nationalities and ethnic groups, as well as representatives of 16 religious confessions, there are 141 national cultural centers and 36 friendship societies.

On the basis of the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan from 4 May 2018, "Friendship Houses" were created in the center of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, regional centers and the city of Tashkent.

It should be noted that 14 entrepreneurs and selfless compatriots of different nationalities were awarded the title of Hero of Uzbekistan.

In order for people of different nationalities to receive education in their native language, education in educational institutions of the country is conducted in 7 languages: Uzbek, Karakalpak, Russian, Tajik, Kazakh, Kyrgyz and Turkmen languages. Higher educational institutions have the opportunity to study in several related and foreign languages.

The fact that television and radio channels are broadcast in 12 languages, newspapers and magazines are published in more than 10 languages, is a practical embodiment of the atmosphere of interethnic harmony and solidarity in our country.

On 15 November 2019, in accordance with the Decree, the Concept of the State Policy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the field of interethnic relations was approved in order to further increase the level of interaction between state bodies and organizations, local executive authorities and civil society institutions in the field of interethnic relations and friendly relations with foreign countries.

The main purpose of establishing the Day of Friendship of Peoples and National Unity is to strengthen solidarity, tolerance, interethnic harmony and the further development of friendly relations between people, nations, states, various layers and structures of society, in general.
