Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Customs officers at the Sariasia checkpoint in Surkhandarya region have prevented an attempt to smuggle 267 antique ornaments out of the country, the Regional Customs Department reported.

Preliminary findings indicate that some of the seized items date back to the era of the Bukhara Emirate, while the rest were crafted in the late 19th to early 20th century.

The confiscated artifacts have been transferred to the Termez Archaeological Museum for further preservation and study.
