Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 31 January, a regular meeting of the Senate Committee of the Oliy Majlis on information policy and ensuring openness in state bodies was held.

It was attended by senators, experts of the Committee, chairmen of standing committees, members of the Youth Parliament and representatives of the media.

The meeting identified important tasks facing the Committee, based on the priority areas identified in the Development Strategy of New Uzbekistan for 2022-2026.

It was emphasized that the Development Strategy of New Uzbekistan is aimed at realizing the hopes and aspirations of our people, proceeds from the realities of today and sets ambitious goals for the future. In a word, the Development Strategy acquires a vital character, becomes a single spiritual basis and criterion that unites our people on the path of building a New Uzbekistan.

Within the framework of the State Program for the implementation of the Development Strategy, 398 events will be carried out this year for a total of 55 trillion soums and US$11.7 billion.

In particular, it is planned to turn the mahalla into the main link of public administration and control, improve the system of dialogue with the people, implement territorial programs based on public opinion, turn the Kengashes of people’s deputies into the main link in solving existing problems in the regions, and bring the institutional framework in line with modern requirements. the activities of local government bodies, the transformation of the activities of public administration bodies on the basis of the principle of "Serving the Citizen", the introduction of a compact, professional, fair, highly efficient system of public administration, as well as further enhancing the role of the chambers of the Oliy Majlis and political parties in the consistent continuation of reforms in the country.

At the meeting, the issue of sending, at the initiative of the Committee, a parliamentary request to the Cabinet of Ministers on the development of national content for youth and minors on the Internet, the culture of their use of social networks and protection from harmful information was discussed.

According to statistics, in our country there are 4.7 million users on Facebook, 3.7 million on Instagram, 288 thousand on LinkedIn, 18 million on Telegram, 16.7 million on Odnoklassniki, 51.6 thousand on Twitter and 2.6 million on V-Kontakte. Most of them are young people.

Over the past period, a number of legislative acts have been adopted in the country aimed at protecting young people and children from harmful information, ensuring information security in this area. Among them are the laws of the Republic of Uzbekistan "On State Youth Policy", "On the Mass Media", "On the Protection of Children from Information Harmful to Their Health".

Recently, in the global information network Internet and social networks, work has not been carried out at the proper level to disseminate propaganda materials on the patriotic education of youth, the creation of illustrated manuals in electronic form aimed at protecting children from various information attacks on the Internet.

Due to the fact that information about Uzbekistan on the Wikipedia platform is insufficient or not updated, there are not enough high-quality historical and feature films about Uzbekistan on popular online platforms, there is an interest of young people and minors in various foreign content that does not correspond to spiritual and moral basics.

Ultimately, through ideological threats from outside, attempts are made to change the views of certain sections of the population, especially young people, in their own way, to instill in them such destructive ideas of immorality.

As of December 2021 alone, 289 pornographic websites and 91 websites have been identified in the national domain space that may serve to promote recklessness and moral perversion. 2097 cases of offenses were registered.

The senators noted that the overall priority is to combat content that promotes immorality and incites religious hatred, online games and sweepstakes that involve risk, web resources that do not recognize family values and promote destructive ideas in society that can harm thinking student youth.

Based on the results of the discussion, the relevant decision of the Committee was adopted.
