17,200 enterprises and organizations created in Uzbekistan in Jan-Feb

In January-February 2020, 17,200 enterprises and organizations were created. Of these, 11,200 units are limited liability companies, 2,500 units are private enterprises, 2,900 units are family enterprises, 0.3 thousand units are establishments and 0.3 thousand units are others.

As of 1 March 2020, the number of industrial enterprises and organizations made up 72,600 units and the increase, compared to the same period last year, reached 19.5 %. The main factor in the growth in the number of industrial enterprises and organizations was an increase in production in the manufacturing industry - by 19.4% (the share of their total amount is 94.6%), mining and quarrying - 25.8% (the share of their total number reached 3.3%), electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning - 21.7% (the share of their total amount is 0.5%) and water supply, sewage, waste collection and disposal - 12.2% (the share of their the total amount is 1.6%).

As of 1 March 2020, the number of enterprises and organizations in the construction sector made up 37.2 thousand units. and, compared with the same period last year, it increased by 20.6%. The main factor in the growth in the number of construction enterprises and organizations was an increase in specialized work - by 20.7% (the share of their total number is 60.8%), in the field of construction of civil facilities, the number of enterprises and organizations increased by 11.8% (the share of their total number is 8.5%), in the field of construction of buildings and structures - by 23.0% (the share of their total number reached 30.7% )

As of 1 March 2020, the number of enterprises and organizations in the trade sector made up 106.8 thousand units and, compared with the same period last year, increased by 31.5%. The main factor in the growth in the number of trading enterprises and organizations was retail trade, except for trade in cars and motorcycles, which increased by 30.7% (the share of their total amount is 62.0%), wholesale trade, except for trade in cars and motorcycles, increased by 33.2% (the share of their total amount is 30.0%), wholesale and retail trade in cars and motorcycles and their repair, compared with the previous year, increased by 31.7% (the share of their total number is 8.0% )

As of 1 March 2020, the number of enterprises and organizations in the field of accommodation and food services made up 26.6 thousand units and increased by 25.5% compared with the same period last year. A major factor in the increase in the number of enterprises and organizations in the sphere of services for accommodation and catering is providing food and drinks - by 23.3% (share of the total is 90.7%), accommodation services increased by 51.5% (share of the total has reached 9.3%).

As of 1 March 2020, the number of enterprises and organizations in the field of information and communication made up 8.2 thousand units. and, compared with the same period last year, increased by 14.2%. The main factor in the growth of the number of enterprises and organizations in the field of information and communication is the production of film, video films and television programs, as well as sound recordings, which, compared to the previous year, increased by 7.4% (the share of their total number is 6.2%), the share of services in the field of information, compared to the previous year, increased by 21.4% (the share of their total number is 15.0%), the publishing services reached 13.1% (the share of their total number is 15.7%), programming and broadcasting services - 95.2% (the share of their total number 2.2%), computer programming services increased by119.9% (the share of their total number is 30.4%), communication services reached 109.3% (the share of their total number is 30.5%).

As of 1 March 2020, the number of registered family enterprises made up 31.6 thousand units, which is 13.1 thousand units, or 1.7 times more than in the same period last year. The number of operating family enterprises is 30.0 thousand units, which is 12.1 thousand units, or 1.7 times more than the same period last year. The number of newly created family enterprises as of 1 March 2020 made up 2.9 thousand units, which is 511 units, or 21.2% more than for the same period last year.

As of 1 March  2020, the number of registered limited liability companies reached 241.0 thousand units and, compared with the same period last year, the increase was 50.1 thousand units, or 126.3%. Operating enterprises amount to 228.6 thousand units. and, compared with the same period last year, their number reached 45.7 thousand units, or 125.0%. As of 1 March  2020, the number of newly created limited liability companies made up 11.2 thousand units, which is 3.2 thousand units, or 21.9% less than in the same period last year.

As of 1 March 2020, the number of enterprises with foreign capital made up 11.3 thousand units, of which 10.8 thousand units or 95.7% are active. This indicator, compared with the same period last year, increased by 2.9 thousand units, or 35.1%. In January-February 2020, 494 enterprises with foreign capital were created in our republic.

Uzbekistan supports the creation of a full-fledged free trade zone within the CIS, based on principles that do not undermine the current trade regime. This, in turn, is an important factor in ensuring sustainable socio-economic development of the CIS. Given the growing number of enterprises with foreign capital in the Republic of Uzbekistan, their main share accounted for (compared to enterprises with foreign capital) the Russian Federation - 17.7%, Kazakhstan - 7.9%, Azerbaijan - 1.7%, Kyrgyzstan – 1.5% and Tajikistan - 1.5%.

By regions, the largest number of operating enterprises and organizations was recorded in the city of Tashkent (86 490 units), Tashkent (39 856 units), Fergana (35 948 units), Samarkand (32 736 units) and Andijan (31 649 units) regions.

The largest number of operating enterprises with foreign capital reached in Tashkent city – 6 355 (59.0% of their total), 1 193 - in Tashkent (11.1%) and 521 - in Samarkand regions (4.8%). The smallest number of them is in Khorezm - 150 (1.4%), Kashkadarya - 199 (1.8%), Syrdarya - 164 (1.5%) regions and the Republic of Karakalpakstan - 160 (1.5%).

As of 1 March  2020, the share of registered enterprises and organizations by region made up 20.8% in the city of Tashkent, 10.5% - Tashkent, 8.1% - Andijan, 8.0% - Samarkand, 8.4% - Fergana, 6.2% - Kashkadarya, 5.8% - Bukhara, 6.3% - Namangan, 4.3% - Jizzakh, 4.8% - Khorezm, 3.4% - Syrdarya, 4.7% - Surkhandarya , 4.3% - Navoi regions and 4.4% in the Republic of Karakalpakstan.

As of January 2020, the share of newly created enterprises and organizations by regions was 20.2% in Tashkent city, 9.5% - Tashkent, 7.7% - Andijan, 9.8% - Samarkand, 6.1% - Fergana, 5.2% - Bukhara, 5.2% - Kashkadarya, 6.3% - Namangan, 3.4% - Jizzakh, 7.7% - Khorezm, 4.5% - Syrdarya, 5.2% - Surkhandarya , 5.2% - Navoi regions and 4.0% in the Republic of Karakalpakstan.

As of March 1, 2020, the share of operating limited liability companies by regions made up 26.6% in the city of Tashkent, 10.7% - Tashkent, 8.5% - Andijan, 7.1% - Samarkand, 6.9% - Fergana, 6.5% - Bukhara, 6.4% - Namangan, 4.7% - Kashkadarya, 4.0% - Jizzakh, 3.6% - Khorezm, 3.6% - Syrdarya, 3.4% - Surkhandarya, 3.3% - Navoi regions and 4.7% in the Republic of Karakalpakstan.

The third most important area of the Strategy of Action in the five priority areas of development of the Republic of Uzbekistan for 2017–2021 is the further development of international economic cooperation, for example, the increase in the number of enterprises with foreign investment is primarily due to political stability and the improvement of the legal framework for investment activity in the country.

In January-February 2020, the share of newly created family-owned enterprises by regions was 19.6% in Samarkand, 19.2% - Khorezm, 9.8% - Andijan, 8.0% - Navoi, 8.8% - Surkhandarya, 7.9% - Tashkent, 4.2% - Tashkent city, 5.3% - Kashkadarya, 3.9% - Bukhara, 1.9% - Syrdarya, 1.5% - Namanga, 1.8% - Jizzakh regions and 3.3% in the Republic of Karakalpakstan.
