14 Orphans Repatriated from Russia to Uzbekistan
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 27 January 2026, 14 children left without parental care were returned to Uzbekistan from various regions of the Russian Federation.
The repatriation initiative was carried out within the framework of international cooperation. The Commissioner for Children’s Rights in Uzbekistan submitted a request to her Russian counterpart, M. Lvova-Belova, the Commissioner for Children’s Rights of the Russian Federation, seeking assistance in organizing temporary placement of the children in Russian care facilities until their return to Uzbekistan.
Thanks to the prompt measures taken by the Russian Commissioner, the children were provided with comfortable living conditions within the respective regions of the Russian Federation.
Joint efforts involving the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan made it possible to return all 14 children to their homeland: four from Moscow, six from the Tver Region, and four from the Moscow Region.
The Commissioner for Children’s Rights of Uzbekistan expressed gratitude to her Russian counterpart for the swift assistance and reaffirmed readiness for continued constructive cooperation in the interest of protecting children’s rights.
