1 Trillion Soums Allocated for 24 km of New Gastronomic and Tourist Streets in Tashkent
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Projects for the development of gastronomic and tourist streets in Tashkent have been expanded. This was reported in an interview with the television channel “Uzbekistan 24” by the mayor of the capital, Shavkat Umurzakov.
According to him, the initiatives already implemented have received a positive response from residents. In 2026, an allocation of 1 trillion soums (82.1 million USD) from the local budget is planned for the creation of an additional 24 kilometers of such streets. It is expected that this will create between 20,000 and 30,000 new jobs.
“Historical decrees and resolutions signed by the President have opened up new opportunities. Their impact has been felt by every resident of the capital, collectively creating more than 100,000 jobs,” emphasized Shavkat Umurzakov.
On 16 October, during a meeting dedicated to the development of Tashkent, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev noted that the ongoing transformations should focus on creating a comfortable and modern urban environment, stimulating economic activity, and promoting entrepreneurship.
Following the meeting, the city authorities presented updated data on the project to create a network of dedicated lanes for public transport (BRT), covering 10 routes, many of which follow former tram lines. Plans also include relocating city entry posts and constructing transfer hubs.
