World Bank issues US$198.5 to Kazakh project

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The World Bank’s Board of Executive Directors approved on 15 December a project “Kazakhstan Electricity Grid Operating Company (KEGOC) with the guarantee of Kazakhstan: Alma Electricity Transmission Project”.
The bank said it will allocate IBRD loan for US$198.5 million. The maturity term is 25 years with five-year grace period.
The Alma Electricity Transmission Project aims to improve the reliability and quality of electricity supply to consumers in the Almaty region in an environmentally responsible and financially sustainable manner.
There are three components to the project: (1) construction of transmission lines; (2) construction, extension, and modernization of substations; and (3) consulting and technical services.
