A series of consultation meetings on effective decarbonization and resource saving start

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Not only entrepreneurs, specialists from government agencies, manufacturing enterprises but also activists from non-governmental non-profit organizations, environmental associations, informal associations and groups gathered for a consultation meeting on effective decarbonization and resource conservation.

The goal is to promote the efficient use of energy and potential of NGOs and active citizens, improve their skills in the field of monitoring, use of alternative energy sources to support the efficient production of industry and business representatives, in general, contribute to strengthening their knowledge and competencies in the field of green economy”, prevention of environmental pollution.

It is known from practice that the wider the coverage of the population with information in this direction, the more stakeholders join forces, the more comprehensive and inclusive will be the approach to finding solutions to the challenges of our time, including environmental problems, resource scarcity and energy efficiency issues.

During the event, participants received basic information about energy, alternative sources and efficient use of energy, 3R waste management concepts (“Reduce, reuse, recycle”), proposed innovative solutions to production problems, and developed cost-effective technical solutions. The experts explained the procedures for analyzing opportunities and barriers to the application of resource-saving methods.

It is planned to hold similar consultation meetings in other regions with the participation of state bodies and the public, including the business community, civil society institutions and the media, aimed at creating a dialogue space on issues of "green development" (Thus, on 31 January they were already held in Karshi, on 1 February - in Bukhara, and on 7 February it is planned to organize a consultation meeting in Nukus).

The consultation meeting was organized as part of the second component "Strengthening civil society for transparent and accountable economic policies", the program "Effective Governance for Economic Development" (EGED), implemented with the financial support of the UK Government. This program is designed for 2020-2025 and is being implemented in Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan in order to increase the efficiency, accountability and transparency of economic policy in priority areas of reform.
