Bilateral cooperation with Tajikistan in the textile sector is expanding

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- As part of the stay of the delegation of the Uztekstilprom Association in Dushanbe, a number of bilateral meetings are held to discuss issues of further development of mutually beneficial cooperation between the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Republic of Tajikistan in the textile sector.
Within the framework of the meetings, the Tajik side expressed interest in studying the positive experience of Uzbekistan in the development of the textile industry, in particular, in the creation of cotton and textile clusters.
In order to develop bilateral trade and economic partnership between our countries, the issues of creating a textile kit for the production of cotton yarn in Tajikistan, as well as creating a cotton-textile cluster on the part of Uzbek investors are being discussed.
In order to further expand the presence of Uzbek manufacturers of textile products in the Tajik market, additional export contracts were concluded for the supply of finished Uzbek textile products to Tajikistan for a total of US$13.1 million.
Relevant agreements were also reached on the supply of cotton fiber to Uzbekistan in the amount of more than US$60 million.
More than 450,000 tons of raw cotton are grown annually in Tajikistan. In 2020. the republic’s enterprises produced 140 thousand tons of cotton fiber, of which 27 thousand tons were processed on the territory of the country, the rest was shipped for export.
