A meeting of the Forum of Women Entrepreneurs takes place

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - On 19 January 2021, a meeting of the Forum of Women Entrepreneurs was held under the Commission on Ensuring Gender Equality of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

Senators, members of the Commission, representatives of relevant ministries of departments, as well as international organizations took part in the event, which took place in the form of videoconferencing.

It was noted that in recent years, the head of state has taken important steps to strengthen the legislative framework for expanding the economic opportunities of women, and the formation of an institutional base. As a result, there is an increase in the number of women entrepreneurs and women willing to start entrepreneurship.

In this regard, the activities of the Commission for Ensuring Gender Equality of the Republic of Uzbekistan plays an important role. One of its main tasks is the development of women’s entrepreneurship, the creation of ample opportunities for women who want to do business.

During the event, issues of the EBRD methodology for assessing the investment environment, taking into account gender characteristics, the work carried out in the Republic of Uzbekistan on gender equality in the economy, the concept of women’s entrepreneurship in legislation, as well as international experience were discussed.

In addition, proposals were developed to further support women’s entrepreneurial initiatives, assess the investment environment, taking into account gender characteristics, study and improve the legislative norms in this area, as well as the issues considered.
