IDB issues US$17.4m to modernize sanitary-epidemiology service of Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A project on equipment of the centers of the state sanitary-epidemiology supervision with the laboratory equipments started in Uzbekistan.
The project is implemented within the agreement signed between Uzbekistan and the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) for US$17.44 million. The resources were issued for 14 years with three-year grace period on Istisna terms.
According to the newspaper Norodnoye Slovo, the project will be implemented within four years – from 2015 to 2018. Within the project, it is planned to reconstruct, modernize and supply new high technologic equipment of 157 existing sanitary-hygienic labs across Uzbekistan.
Doctor Al Bashir Salam, representative of the IDB, said that the project is directed at supporting measures of the Government of Uzbekistan to improve health and well-being of population. He said that the project will help to improve potential and quality of existing sanitary-hygienic labs of the State Sanitary-Epidemiology Supervision.
