Uzbekistan to introduce international medical-sanitary rules

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan will introduce international medical-sanitary rules, which were adopted at the 58th World Healthcare Assembly in 2005.
The Government of Uzbekistan issued a resolution “On measures on introduction of international medical-sanitary rules in Uzbekistan”.
The document was adopted to organize and strengthen complex system of regulation of relations related to ensuing sanitary-epidemiologic well-being of population of Uzbekistan, as well as prevent international spread of illnesses.
The resolution said that the 58th World Healthcare Assembly on 23 May 2005 adopted introduction of international medical-sanitary rules, which came into force on 15 June 2007 and mandatory for all member states of the World Health Organization.
International medical-sanitary rules are directed at rendering help to international community to prevent and adopt reciprocal measures to spread of illnesses in global scale.
Ministry of Healthcare of Uzbekistan in cooperation with the WHO Office in Uzbekistan and ministries and departments conducted preparation measures on introduction of the international medical-sanitary rules in Uzbekistan, the resolution reads.
The Government of Uzbekistan determined Ministry of Healthcare of Uzbekistan as national coordinator of Uzbekistan in introduction of the international medical-sanitary rules.
The Government approved a regulation on national coordinator of Uzbekistan in introduction of the international medical-sanitary rules. The document sets tasks, responsibility and rights of the national coordinator.
Council of Ministers of Karakalpakstan, regional administrations and Tashkent city administration were entrusted to review organization of work of emergency anti-epidemiology commissions on ensuring well-being of population in line with requirements of the international medical-sanitary rules.
Ministry of Health in cooperation with other state bodies should develop a complex of measures on introduction of the international medical-sanitary rules and submit it to approval of the Cabinet of Ministers within two months.
Ministry of Emergency Situation and other interested state bodies were entrusted to adopt scheme of notification and adoption of decision in relation to assessment and notification of events of international importance, which create potential threat of emergency situation and impact health of people.
The resolution also approved entrance points into Uzbekistan in case of difficult epidemiological situation and existence of radiation, biological and chemical threats from neighboring states. They are:
- Tashkent International Airport
- river port in Termez city (Surkhandarya region);
- Keles railway station (Tashkent region)
- land border checkpoints: "Sariasiya – automobile road" and "Termez - automobile road " (Surkhandarya region), "Yallama - automobile road " and "Oibek - automobile road " (Tashkent region), "Alat - automobile road " (Bukhara region) "Dustlik - automobile road " (Andijan region).
The Government granted the right to the Republican Emergency Anti-Epidemic Commission, taking into account the specific situation related to the threat to the health of the country’s population, to determine the other points of entry.
