Uzbekistan and Latvia discuss cooperation in education

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Tashkent hosted a conference one export and integration in higher education on 1 April 2015.
Embassy of Latvia in Uzbekistan and Baltic Center organized the conference.
The conference was organized to deepen cooperation of European Union with Uzbekistan and other Central Asian states. Education is one of the priority areas in EU Strategy for Central Asia and became successful sphere of cooperation.
Representatives of education ministries of Uzbekistan and Latvia, diplomatic missions, European funds, universities and others participated at the conference.
The conference considered cooperation between Uzbekistan and Latvia in education sphere. In particular, the participants discussed use of experience and material-technical base of Latvian universities in strengthening and helping to the Uzbek universities.
The sides also considered uniting Latvian and Uzbek universities in international and European programmes, as well as receiving grants within such programmes as ERASMUS PLUS.
Representatives of Latvia and Uzbekistan considered issues of signing agreements between universities to organize students exchange, double diploma programmes, joint programmes and projects. Other forms of cooperation were also discussed at the event.
Latvia and Uzbekistan have great potential for cooperation in cultural-humanitarian sphere, including in education sphere. Currently, over 400 students from Uzbekistan are studying in Latvia. Uzbekistan holds one of the highest positions on number of students, studying in Latvia. Uzbekistan and Latvia also implement several projects at level of universities.
