Over 6.5m children undergo medical examination in 2014

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Over 6.5 million of students of kindergartens, schools, professional colleges and lyceums undergo medical examination in 2014, which helped to reveal various diseases in early stages and treat them successfully, President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov said at the session of the Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan on 16 January.
President said that in last ten years number of children born with congenital malformations decreased by 1.3 times. The incidence of acute respiratory viral infections among children at the age of 6-15 years fell by 34.4%, pneumonia - 49.7%, bronchitis - 32.8%, scoliosis - by 32.7%.
He said that 133 medical establishments were constructed and reconstructed in 2014 and over 400 billion soums of budget resources and about US$30 million foreign loans and grants were directed to this direction.
Uzbekistan in cooperation with South Korea started construction of unique children medical center, which will have no analogue in the CIS, Karimov stated.
Uzbekistan also pays attention to development of sport institutions and their equipment as it plays key role in strengthening health of population, he said.
Fund for development of children sport constructed 18 sport objects and 73 sport halls at schools, reconstructed and repaired 24 objects for about 100 billion soums, President underlined.
Currently, about 2 million children, including over 840,000 girls, engaged in over 30 sports, Uzbek leader said.
