Uzbekistan takes 57th place in Legatum Institute’s Prosperity Index

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan claimed the 57th place in latest version of the annual Prosperity Index, which is published by British analytical institute Legatum Institute.
Last year, the country was on 63th place in this index. Uzbekistan claimed the 14th place among the countries of Asian-Pacific region.
According to Legatum Institute, Uzbekistan claimed the 67th place in category of economy (71st place in 2013)and 16th place on social capital (18), 92nd place in entrepreneurship and opportunity (92), 69th place in education (66), 60th place in healthcare (65), 65th place in security (63), 57th place in personal freedoms (78) and 118th place in state governance (119).
In new index, Uzbekistan is ahead of Greece (59th place) Ukraine (63), Russia (68), Serbia (77), Turkey (86), India (102) and Iran (107).
Index is based on 79 various figures, united under eight categories, which reflect development of society and prosperity – economy, entrepreneurship and opportunity, governance, education, healthcare, security, personal freedoms and social capital.
Legatum Institute’s prosperity index, now in its sixth year, assesses global wealth and wellbeing and benchmarks 142 countries around the world, which covers 96% of population and 99% of world GDP.
Norway, Switzerland and New Zealand take first, second and third on the index with Denmark, and Canada coming in fourth and fifth respectively. They were followed by Sweden, Australia, Finland, Netherland and United States.
