CIS FMs hold summit in Belarus

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A delegation of Uzbekistan led by Ministry of Foreign Affairs Abdulaziz Kamilov participated in the session of the Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) in Minsk, Belarus, on 9 October 2014.
The CIS Foreign Ministers discussed an agenda of upcoming session of the Council of the leaders of the member states of the CIS and other issues of interaction within the Commonwealth, the press service of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan said.
The CIS Foreign Ministers considered over 20 draft documents, regulating inter-governmental cooperation in humanitarian sphere, security areas and other directions, the press service of the CIS Executive Committee.
The CIS officials discussed a draft appeal of the CIS leaders in connection with the 70th anniversary of the victory at the World War II.
Foreign Ministers considered a a decision on implementation of inter-state programme “Cultural capitals of the Commonwealth” in Russia and Tajikistan in 2015, announcing Voronej and Kulyab as the cultural capitals of the CIS in 2015.
They discussed a draft plan on priority measures on humanitarian cooperation of the CIS member states for 2015-2016, which includes about 200 measures of humanitarian character, education, culture, science, information and mass communication, sport, healthcasre, etc.
The draft plan on priority measures in sphere of humanitarian cooperation of the CIS for 2015-2016 and plan of measures for 2015-2017 on implementation of the strategy of development of cooperation in tourism sphere in CIS till 2020 was also considered.
The Foreign Ministers discussed issues of providing status of basic organization of the CIS to some higher educational institutions and considered activity of the Council of commanders of border troops on strengthening external borders of the CIS.
The officials discussed and approved a draft programme on cooperation of the CIS states in combating migration for 2015-2019. It is directed at developing and implementing agreed migration policy, developing international-legal base for cooperation, etc.
At the session, the Foreign Ministers discussed a plan on main measures on developing the concept on further developing of the CIS, issues related to economic development of the CIS states, formation of general energy market, cultural cooperation, security, fighting crime, etc.
Foreign Ministers adopted decision that they will gather in Osh, Kyrgyzstan, on 3 April 2015.
