CEC adopts decision on formation of electoral districts

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Central Election Commission of Uzbekistan (CEC) adopted a decision on formation of electoral districts.

The decision was adopted at the session of the CEC on 3 October 2014, the press service of the commission said. In line with article 7 of the Law “On elections to Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan”, elections to the Legislative Chamber of the parliament will be held on 134 electoral districts.

In this connection, the CEC adopted the decision on formation of electoral districts to hold elections to the Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan after considering proposals of Jokargy Kenes, administrations of the regions and city of Tashkent.

According to the article 7 of the Law “On elections to Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan”, the list of electoral districts with their names, numbers, borders and number of voters will be published in press.

At the session, the commission also discussed execution of the programme of measures on preparation and holding of elections to Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan, regional, district and city Councils of People’s Deputies in 2014.

The CEC also considered other issues, related to the jurisdiction of the commission.
