Ferghana Refinery to carry out US$200m modernization

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Ferghana Refinery will start modernization of its capacities on production of high octane oil products with the cost of US$200 million, director of the plant Shamsiddin Saydahmedov said.
He said that the company selected summer variant of the plant configuration, which envisages 95% of production of light oil products.
He said that France’s Axens will complete audit and development of preliminary feasibility study of the project on production of oil products, meeting Euro-3 and higher requirements. The contract was signed in early 2013.
It is planned to prepare the project on modernization by the summer of 2015 and determine the sources of its financing. In the second half of 2015, it is planned to announce tender in implementation of technological part of modernization. The project will be implemented within two years, RIA Novosti reported.
Ferghana Refinery was commissioned in 1959 and currently it produces about 60 types of oil products. The designed processing capacity of the plant is about 5.5 million tonnes of oil a year. The plant is planning to modernize treating facilities. The project cost is US$14.4 million.
Total capacity of three refineries of Uzbekistan – Bukhara Refinery, Ferghana Refinery and Altyarik Refinery – makes up 11.12 million tonnes.
